Off-Ice Training Components

 THC

THC Winnipeg has the most advanced technology to measure the key components to develop hockey skills. Developed by Total Hockey Worldwide, the Speed Ramp, Shooting Accuracy, Shot Power, Quick Hands and Obstacle Course are unique to the world of hockey and will make you better. THC has become the place to go for skill improvement in Winnipeg. There is no other place in the province like it.Where else can you handle a puck or ball for an hour at a time or shoot between 150 and 200 shots, with instructors ensuring quality repetitions throughout your sessions. It would take multiple hockey practices to even come close to those numbers and dozens of games. Our unique computerized instant feedback system allows players to see their best score at a particular station and motivates them to try and beat their best scores each time they come to train.

THC STATIONS:

SPEED RAMP: The patent-pending Speed Ramp improves first-step skating quickness through an inclined ramp with a glide factor to ice of 90%. Our instructors will teach the appropriate technique so that every repetition on the speed ramp is done correctly. Full hip extension, low body position, and proper arm swing are key ingredients to become a fast skater.

SLIDE BOARDS: The slide board is an excellent training system to enhance an athlete’s stride as well as hone his vision skills. The slide board training system is crucial to player development. Athletes will improve speed, lateral movement, leg power, and lower body endurance on the slide boards.

SHOOTING STATIONS: The best shooters are the best players. The shooting stations feature three different areas working different skill sets (speed rated, pass & shoot, and accuracy rated). Score more goals by learning how to release the puck quickly and accurately.

STICK HANDLING STATION: The stick handling area features large puck-like obstacles and attack triangles that can be reconfigured at a moments notice. Having quick hands, being creative, and reacting quickly will ensure the athletes have the proper tool box of skills when it comes down to playing in game situations.

MULTI-PURPOSE STATION: The multi purpose station is where we can work on many different skills required for the game of hockey. It can be used to work on quickness, agility, balance, hand eye co-ordination and as well as stick handling. It’s the little things, the intangibles that make great players.
