Slide Boards

Success in hockey is being at the right place at the right time. That means keeping your feet moving and your head up.

The slide board is an excellent training system to enhance an athlete's stride as well as hone his vision skills. The slide board exercises train a player to keep his/her feet moving while keeping their head up and using their vision to read the play.

Empowering Stride:

The primary goal of the slider board is to keep your feet moving at all times. This accomplishes two goals: it strengthens the athlete's stride, and teaches the player to stay in motion.

Seeing is Believing:

In front of the player, to his/her left & right is a series of changing lights and numbers. Players must keep their heads up and indicate to the trainers when a light or a number changes. This teaches them to constantly scan from left to right and vice-versa, to see the play develop.

Advanced Drills:

Once an athlete has mastered the basic skill set of the slide boards, obstacles are added to the mix. In this example, players must stick handle through a stick that is in their path.

Multi Player Drills:

Another version of advanced drills is to incorporate another player and pass a weighted ball.
